Flock Report

On February 23’rd 2026 several members of our community spoke about Flock Safety at the Springfield City Council meeting. After they spoke, Mayor Schrag asked the City Manager to provide the council with a report about Flock cameras. The following week we were told by a council member they were working on that report, and would get it to us when it is available. On March 13’th I emailed the City Manager, and asked if there were any updates on the report. An assistant to the City Manager replied back, and sent me a copy of the report.

What I was sent was insulting. Not only to the citizens of Springfield, but to the mayor and city council members.

The report, if you can call it that, was clearly a copy and paste job from ChatGPT with the prompt “Tell me about Flock Safety.” The only edit to the report was adding a line about murder that had taken place, and Flock cameras were used to investigate. Basically a sales brochure. Information taken from crawling the web by an AI chatbot, and regurgitating that “knowledge” back. And anyone who has searched Flock knows they are on point with their SEO game, so the contents of the vomit are not a surprise.

I get it. I really do. I understand that we only have so many hours in the day, and we all have to triage our work. This “report” made it clear that the privacy concerns of the citizens is not a top priority for the city of Springfield.
